Note:

Morning sandhyavanadanam should be performed facing east. Arghyam and all japakramam should be performed in standing posture

Afternoon Sandhyavandanam should be performed facing North. Arghyam and all japakramam should be performed in standing posture

Evening Sandhyavandanam should be performed facing west. Only Aachamanam should be performed facing North. Arghyam should be performed standing. Japakramam should be performed sitting

1. Achamanam

Take little water on your right palm and swallow it each time uttering the mantra(don’t sip the water)

oṃ acyutāya namaḥ
oṃ anantāya namaḥ
oṃ govindāya namaḥ

thumb to touch right cheek

oṃ keśavāya namaḥ

thumb to touch left cheek

oṃ nārāyaṇāya namaḥ

ring finger with thumb to touch right eye

oṃ mādhavāya namaḥ

ring finger with thumb to touch left eye

oṃ govindāya namaḥ

Index finger with thumb to touch right nose

oṃ viṣṇave namaḥ

Index finger with thumb to touch left nose

oṃ madhusūdanāya namaḥ

Little finger with thumb to touch right ear

oṃ trivikramāya namaḥ

Little finger with thumb to touch left ear

oṃ vāmanāya namaḥ

Middle finger with thumb to touch right shoulder

oṃ śrīdharāya namaḥ

Middle finger with thumb to touch left shoulder

oṃ hṛṣīkeśāya namaḥ

All fingers to touch navel and the chest

oṃ padmanābhāya namaḥ

All fingers to touch head

oṃ dāmodarāya namaḥ

2. Praanaayaama

Exhale the air through right nostril
Close your right nostril with the right thumb and take a deep breath inside through the Left Nostril.
Close the left nostril now with the ring finger and little finger.
Holding the breath inside, chant the mantra.

oṃ bhūḥ oṃ bhuvaḥ oṃ suvaḥ oṃ mahaḥ oṃ janaḥ oṃ tapaḥ oṃ satyam ||

oṃ tat sa̍vi̱tuḥ vare̎ṇyaṁ bhargo̍ devasya dhīmahi | dhiyo̱ yo na̍ḥ prachodayā̎t ||

oṃ āpo jyotir raso’mṛtaṃ brahma bhūr bhuvas-suvarom ||

Then release the air slowly through right nostril .
Say ‘Om’ and touch the right ear with the right palm

3. Sankalpam

Keep the right palm inside the left palm and keep the palms on the right thigh and recite the following manthra

Recite each mantra

For 8, sprinkle water on feet
For 10, take water in the hand and circle the head.

arghyapradāne viniyogaḥ

Stand erect holding sombu(vessel) in left hand between thumb and first finger
Hold water in the palm in both the hands and with heels of both legs raised, utter the following mantra and pour the water through tips of the fingers and repeat the process three times.

oṃ bhūrbhuvassuvaḥ
tat sa̍vi̱tuḥ vare̎ṇyaṁ bhargo̍ devasya dhīmahi
dhiyo̱ yo na̍ḥ pracodayā̎t

8. Kalathitha Praayashchitta arghyaM

Hold water in the palm in both the hands and with heels of both legs raised, utter the following mantra once and pour the water through tips of the fingers on the floor

1. turīya arghyapradāna mantrasya sāndīpani Rishiḥ
2. devīgāyatrī chandaḥ
3. savitā devatā

turīya arghyapradāne viniyogaḥ

oṃ bhūḥ oṃ bhuvaḥ oṃ suvaḥ oṃ mahaḥ oṃ janaḥ oṃ tapaḥ oṃ satyam ||

9. Keshavaadi tarpaNam

Sit in a squatting posture and offer one tarpam while reciting each mantra similar to arghyam

govindam tarpayāmi

viṣṇum tarpyāmi

madhusūdanam tarpyāmi

trivikramam tarpyāmi

vāmanam tarpyāmi

10. Japa Sthala Prokshanam

Sprinkle water on the place you will
perform japa reciting

oṃ bhūrbhuvassuvaḥ

touch the head

oṃ āsanamantrasya pṛthivyāmeru pṛśhṭha ṛśhiḥ

touch the nose tip

sutalaṃ chandaḥ

touch the chest

śrī kūrmo devatā

Aatma aavahanam

āsane viniyogaḥ

(Stand with palms folded in namaste posture after sanctifying the place by lightly sprinkling water

pṛthvi tvayā dhṛtā lokā devitvaṃ viśhṇunā dhṛtā |
tvaṃ ca dhāraya māṃ devi pavitraṃ kurucāsanam.h ||

11. Praanaayaama

close your right nostril with the right thumb and take a deep breath inside.
Close the left nostril now with the ring finger.
With the breath inside, chant the mantra.

oṃ bhūḥ oṃ bhuvaḥ oṃ suvaḥ oṃ mahaḥ oṃ janaḥ oṃ tapaḥ oṃ satyam ||

oṃ tat sa̍vi̱tuḥ vare̎ṇyaṁ bhargo̍ devasya dhīmahi | dhiyo̱ yo na̍ḥ prachodayā̎t ||

oṃ āpo jyotir raso’mṛtaṃ brahma bhūr bhuvas-suvarom ||

Then release the right nostril breathe out and release the left nostril too.
Close the right ear with the right palm

12. Gayathri japa Sankalpam

SaN^kalpaM

śrī bhagavadāGYayā śrīmannārāyaṇa prītyarthaṃ prātaḥ (morning) / Madhyahnika (afternoon) / Saayam (evening) sandhyā aśhṭottara śata sa.nkhyayā (108) or aśhṭāviṃśati sa.nkhyayā (28) gāyatrī mahāmantrajapaṃ kariśhye||

13. Pranayama Mantra Japam

oṃ praṇavasya ṛśhi brahmā
devī gāyatrī chandaḥ
paramātmā devatā

oṃ bhūrādi sapta vyāhṛtīnāṃ atri bhṛgu kutsa vasiśhṭha
gautama kāśyapa āṅgirasa ṛśhayaḥ
gāyatrī uśhṇik.h anuśhṭup bṛhatī paṅti tṛśhṭup jagatyaḥ chandā{gm}si
agni vāyu arka vāgīśa varuṇa indra viśvedevāḥ devatāḥ

gāyatrī śiraso brahma ṛśhiḥ

dṛśe viśvāya sūryaṃ citraṃ devānāmudagādanīkaṃ cakśurmitrasya varuṇasyāgreḥ |
āprādyāvāpṛthivī antarikśaṃ sūrya ātmā jagatastasthuśhaśca ||
taccakśurdevahitaṃ

tatvāyāmi brahmaṇā vandamānastadāśāste yajamāno havirbhiḥ |
aheḍamāno varuṇeha bodhyuruśa{gm}sa mā na āyuḥ pramośhīḥ |
yacciddhi te viśo yathā pra deva varuṇa vratam.h |
minīmasi dyavi dyavi ||

yatki.ncedaṃ varuṇa daivye jane.abhidrohaṃ manuśhyāścarāmasi |
acittī yattava dharmā yuyopima mā nastasmādenaso devarīriśhaḥ ||

kitavāso yadriripurna dīvi yadvāghā satyamuta yanna vidma |
sarvātā viśhya śithireva devāthā te syāma varuṇa priyāsaḥ ||

19. Sandhyaadi devataa vandanam

Start with Facing East in morning / facing north in afternoon / facing west in evening and rotate for each davataa in pradakshinam
